This is the 3rd part of 5 about my short break in Udaipur and Jodhpur.
I rented a car to go to Jodphur from Udaipur, I departed Udaipur at around 9 am. On the way to Jodhpur I stopped by in a Jain Temple called Ranakpur. Some facts about Jainism. Jainism is an Indian religion that prescribes a path of non-violence towards all living beings. Followers of Jainism are vegetarians.
One of the religious practices is that Jains filter water regularly so as to remove any small insects that may be present and always boil water prior to consumption. Maybe you have heard about the Jain monks and nuns, where they walk barefoot and sweep the ground in front of them to avoid killing insects and other tiny beings.
The Ranakpur Jain temple is made from white marble. Over 1444 marble pillars, carved in exquisite detail, support the temple. This temple is so big and grand… As I stepped inside, a sense of calmness and tranquility came over me. The carvings on all the pillars are spectacular. The temperature in the temple was cool and pleasant.

It was a nice stop in Ranakpur Temple. I spent a good 1.5 hour there. So now it is time for me to be in the car again, and get going to Jodhpur. See you in my next post of: Jodhpur the Blue City :)
