My name is Betty Catharine and I am the creator of this blog. My family and friends call me either Betty or Catharine, and you can do the same.
A friend of mine tried to convince me for years to have my own blog, and I am happy I did it. I often spend my Sunday afternoons writing, re-arranging photos and scheduling postings, accompanied by a cup or two cup of coffee and a croissant.
I launched this blog in November 2011 in India and I’ve tried to add posts regularly ever since.
I have had the opportunity to work and live in various countries in Asia for the last few years, and at the moment I work and live in
While my work is a big part of my life, I also do have passions outside of it. This blog is intended to be a creative place where I can share my thoughts and experiences of the small things around me, impressions of the places I visit and my interests. And now, after more than three years of posting stories and pictures on the topics around jewelry, travel, fashion & lifestyle, my interests have evolved, or perhaps more correctly, crystallized.
Traveling is definitely my favorite pastime. I partly blame it on the movie Into the Wild. I don’t know why I do so, or which part of that movie that made a very strong impression on me. My parents for sure will not agree. They would say that I have had an interest or dream to travel the world since I was born. No wonder I married a person who has travelled to more than 60 countries – he has actually lost count…
Along with travelling, I have cultivated an interest in photography. It took some time for me to realize this. In fact, only recently have I come to that conclusion. Perhaps the fact that my picture got selected in January 2014 by National Geographic, amongst 22,000 pictures submitted, as one of the 20 winners for the Your Shot assignment called: “The moment” had something to do with it : )
Learning how to make jewelry from different metals is another thing I do during my spare time. This activity actually takes up a lot of my spare time, but I feel it teaches me a lot of patience and perseverance.
I lose track of time when I’m working at my jewelry bench, and I sort of escape into my own world. People say that ‘losing yourself’ while doing an activity is a sign that it’s one of your passions. I say, when you are completely oblivious to your surroundings and start humming while doing something, that’s the sign that you are doing what you’re passionate about. : )
Other than that, I love textiles for their colors and textures, interior design and stationaries, nature, rocks, clouds and blue skies. I also love the idea of learning new things, including being in a class room (I guess that explains the many different courses I have taken :) )
Whoa…that’s plenty about me! I am going to stop talking now.
I am happy that you are here. Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoy reading it!
