This is how Shanghainese handles the summer. Chillin’ right in the middle of the city, far away from the beach :) I think these guys got the best spot for people watching. I would have one margarita next to me though.
This photo was taken last Sunday while I was walking around in the city with a group of friends, photography enthusiasts. It was 38 degree celcius and so humid. In the beginning of the walk it was all fine and exciting, but after 3 hours of walking, it started to feel so unpleasant. It was so hot!
Just behind these “beach boys”, there is a small noodle restaurant, where you can buy a big bowl of noodle for 12 yuan. And that was what we did and accompanied by a cold soda drink, I was happy again to continue our walk.
Having an electric bike is very common in Shanghai. You see a lot of foreigners drive one too. The body of the bike looks like a vespa, but you drive it like a bicycle without a pedal. Just like what the guy has here. The maximum speed is only around 50 -70 km/hr and it is as quiet as a bicycle. I will get one of them pretty soon I think… Then maybe I will have so much freedom that I can go longer distances to take photos in the city. We’ll see.
It was a good weekend. I love that I got to pick up my camera again… Will do one of the walks again pretty soon.
What about you, what did you do last weekend?
